PARISH PLAN AND VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT
VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT
A Village Design Statement is a planning document intended to give advice and guidance to anyone who is considering any form of development in the village no matter how large or small. It sets out the elements that make up local character in order to improve the quality of design in any new development. It covers relatively straightforward work such as replacing doors and windows as well as more significant work such as building extensions and new buildings.

Parish Plan
A PARISH PLAN FOR HEMINGBROUGH?
Many villages in England are producing Parish Plans. Village people see them as a way of saying how they want their village to develop in the future. A Parish Plan can prove to be very useful as many villages have used them to obtain big improvements to bus services, prevent over-development and get improvement to village roads.
Parish Plans should 'identify key facilities and services, set out the problems that need to be tackled and demonstrate how distinctive character and features can be preserved'.
WHAT IS A PARISH PLAN?
A Parish Plan is a statement from the people living in the village saying:-
How can the future of the village be safeguarded.
What facilities does the village need for the future.
What is important to them in the village.
What new developments are they prepared to accept.
What problems are there that need to be tackled.
In other words it is a vision for the future of the village by identifying what action needs to be taken to tackle issues and who should do it.
Are you interested in being involved in saying how this village should develop over the next few years?
Do you wish to know where the residents feel facilities need improving?
Then why not volunteer to join a committee which will mastermind the drawing up of a Parish Plan to be presented to the Parish Council for their endorsement to the District Council.
